Although most of the chapters will be an updated of the previous ones, the entire content is ensure to be provided with the highest quality. In the same way as the former publication, the new book project “Advanced Models and Tools for Effective Decision Making Under Uncertainty and Risk Contexts” is also focused on an effective decision making based not only on mathematical techniques and models, but also in all those technological tools that are available nowadays from the so-called 4th Industrial Revolution. These advanced models and tools shall provide an optimal and objective decision making, which guarantees improving competitiveness reducing risk and uncertainty. Basically, this new book keeps on contributing towards the research about the new term ‘Industry 4.0’ and its effect on decision-making, particularly how this digital revolution may reduce the uncertainty and risk associated with choosing between alternatives. Discussions about risk and uncertainty, together with a humanistic view of technology, particularly in the fields of logic, philosophy and history of science, and complemented with case studies related to the phenomenon of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, will provide a high valuable publication that can be identified as an essential reference source in this area. The topics intended to be gathered in a book, will show diverse understandings of the new high-tech advances, what they means to the control of risk and uncertainty, pros and cons, including the challenges and benefits from the application of machine learning, big data, virtual reality, cloud computing, IoT platforms, disruptive technologies, or even additive 3D manufacturing.
