ABSTRACT
The present article develops a practical method to determine the internal overpressure in medium voltage switchgear (M.V.), ranging from 6KV to 24KV, when an short circuit happens in its interior due to an insulation fault, thus creating an internal arc with its subsequent overpressure that can create the partial or total destruction of the switchboard, and the danger to harm nearby personnel.
For the design of the switchboards that must withstand this type of fault, it is necessary to know the said internal overpressure.
The lack of a fast and practical method to find out the calculus of this internal overpressure, results in this article being of great help in the design of the switchboards and is a useful tool in the development of the projects.
