ABSTRACT:
This study analyze new Services Organization type which could revolutionized the way energy efficiency improvement was understood till now, based on deeper business relationships than traditional binomial supplier-client relation, within a supply chain. For years collaboration relationships between organizations have been observed and studied and they have developed different collaboration models (from a basic technological development agreement till joint-ventures creation to get faster entrance on new markets) for significant competitiveness improvement. Now it could be seen that within a area like energy efficiency management -not considered till now as a relevant area for this type of collaborations- also some projects are trying to develop a energy integral process improvement based on a agreement between both parties (customer and supplier) to get benefit from integral results. Customer could get a significant operating cost saving and supplier compensation is based on saving portion retained to cover its costs and margin.
This type of organizations (Energy Services Companies or ESCOs) are emerging in Spain as a clear response to crucial operating cost reduction requirement for private and public organizations. These Services Organization are currently under development in Spain and they could be a key tool for economic efficiency, competitiveness, employment. Likewise, they support better and more efficient public services to citizens when the work jointly to public organizations. Although, they find some important barriers for faster development as it is described on this paper
