RESUMEN
El artículo da una visión general sobre la evolución que se produjo en las metodologías y herramientas de gestión durante la segunda mitad del siglo
XX, la incidencia que han tenido sobre la competitividad de las empresas y de los países en su conjunto y el desarrollo, en los distintos bloques
económicos (Japón, EE.UU, Europa), de modelos de gestión y de premios para fomentar el uso de prácticas avanzadas de gestión por las empresas.
Se hace una apreciación del diferente grado de desarrollo de estas metodologías en algunos países y se apunta al papel determinante que tiene
la implantación y participación de las personas en la gestión empresarial para la implantación con éxito de ellas.
Finalmente se realiza una analogía entre la jerarquía de las necesidades de las personas, según la teoría de Maslow, y las necesidades de las Empresas, donde la necesidad de innovar podría satisfacerse tras cubrir otras cuestiones más básicas.

ABSTRACT
The article gives a general overview of the evolution in methodologies and management tools that took place in the second half of the XX century,
the incidence they had on the overall competitiveness of companies and countries and the development of different management and awards
models in such different economic blocks as Japan, the USA and Europe in order to encourage companies to use advanced management practices.
An evaluation is made of the different degrees of development of these methodologies in several countries and the article indicates the determining
implication and participation roles people played in enterprise management resulting in successful methodology implementation.
Lastly, in accordance with Masslow's Theory, the article strikes an analogy between the hierarchy of people's and coporate needs, where the
need for innovation could be satisfied.
