ABSTRACT:
The current concerns for the environment, the progressively diminishing oil reserves and the unpredictable rising oil prices have led to the realisation of a need for the sustainable mobility.

This article reviews the degree of development and experiences in different types of propulsion systems and fuels in spanish urban public bus systems in terms of efficiency and cost effectiveness.
