The search for the highest levels of sustainability in the materialization of the construction leads us, today, to the consideration of this concept from the design phase of the buildings, and even in the manufacture of the various components of these buildings. One of the fundamental aspects of sustainability is saving energy for the buildings. This energy saving passes, necessarily, by optimizing the thermal behavior of the boundary element between the internal and external environment. The new Technical Building Code (CTE) introduces a series of new thermal requirements to be met by the systems of enclosure of the buildings, which determine the characteristics that should have the components that comprise it. This document analyzes the requirements for the case of a block of concrete, marking the premises of a design element to achieve optimized in their thermal properties.
