Quedarse sin gasolina es bastante menos molesto que quedarse sin otro tipo de combustible menos convencional. Esa es, al menos, mi conclusión despues de quedarme sin gasoleo en mitad de la noche (ni imaginar lo que seria quedarse sin carbón en polvo, etanol, hidrógeno o cualquiera de los otros combustibles alternativos que he probado durante años). Recientemente, conduje un coche que funcionaba con una mezcla del 75% de metanol y gasolina. Pero en esta ocasión no estaba preocupado por un depósito vacio de metanol dificilmente obtenible: una serie de luces de cristal líquido en el salpicadero me indicaba el porcentaje de metanol en el conducto del combustible, que podia ser cualquier combinación con gasolina desde 0 al 100%. Podia repostar tanto gasolina como metanol (o ambos), y, para cuando llegase al motor modificado de 2.8 litros V6, un ordenador habria ajustado sencillamente el sistema de inyección de forma que se tuviera en cuenta la diferencia.
