ABSTRACT:This paper deals with the design and control of a three-phase harmonic voltage compensator based on the matrix converter. The topology is based on a series active filter, processing only the harmonic power needed to compensate the voltage pollution, reducing the size and increasing the power density. A detailed linear model of matrix converter is introduced by means of a modulation strategy derived from the Venturini solution, allowing simple control design using classical control theory. The simulation results of a three-phase 3 kVA system shown that is possible to reduce the harmonic distortion in the input voltage, generating a high quality output voltage to operate critical loads.
