ABSTRACT Many industrial facilities require for their operation raw materials not coming from their surroundings. Those raw materials coming from long distances are usually shipped by sea. The cost of that transport can determine the competitiveness of these facilities and it also can be a very relevant factor evaluating the viability of certain industrial projects.
