Nanotechnology is technology at a certain scale: the scale of the nanometre, that is the scale of atoms and molecules. The entire field known consists of atoms. The origin and evolution of living beings are based on the atoms and the electromagnetic interaction between them. The first atoms (hydrogen and helium) were formed almost 400,000 years after the big bang that gave rise to the Universe. Subsequently, the atoms were grouped to form stars, galaxies and, eventually, give rise to life.
