ABSTRACTThe MV network is responsible for a great deal in the Quality of Supply problems affecting the final customer. MV Network automation tryes to solve contingencies efficiently and reliably, by minimizing faults and outages' consequences. The basis to achieve this goal is an operation of switching and breaking MV/LV Substations, strategically located in the Net. The current criteria to build, maintain and exploit facilities will not a simple option in the near future. New products and more efficient solutions are necessary to find faults and keep them in isolation. Basic changes are necessary in order to make these solutions easy, economical and widely used. This article deals with the key points of the new concepts for ransformer substations automation.KEY WORDS: Medium Voltage, automation, MV/LV transformer substations, fault detection, remote control.
