Currently, half of humanity lives in cities. The urban population has increased by 2,850 million people since 1950, according to data from 2011. In the horizon of 2030 almost 60% of the world population will live in urban areas. These are some of the data that emerged from the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro 2012. In Spain, already does more than 80% of citizens, according to data provided by the Statistical Atlas of Urban Areas of Spain's Ministry of Development.
