Resumen
Este artículo recoge los argumentos para un debate sobre la economía del hidrógeno, una energía limpia en cuanto a su uso, pero difícil de obtener
y manipular. A su potencial para impulsar el uso de pilas de combustible y sistemas de almacenamiento de energías renovables y reducir emisiones
de CO2 se contrapone, para su implantación, la necesidad de desarrollar su viabilidad tecnológica y económica. Es difícil predecir en qué grado se producirá este desarrollo y a qué ritmo, pero es necesario reconocer la magnitud de sus implicaciones y prepararse para aprovechar las oportunidades que se presenten.

Abstract
The article showcases the arguments for a debate on the economy of hydrogen, a clean energy form in terms of its use but difficult to obtain and
handle. Its potential in terms of promoting the use of fuel cells and renewable energy storage systems, as well as in reducing CO2 emission levels,
is counterbalanced by the need to make this energy form more technologically and financially viable prior to its implementation. Though it is difficult to predict the rate and extent to which this technology will be developed, its far-reaching implications should be recognised and preparations made to take full advantage of the opportunities which may arise.
