The objective of this work is to characterise the mechanical behaviour of corrugated cardboard containers by means of a simple model that allows to approximate the load capacity and the deformation of the containers based on their characteristic parameters. This is very interesting during a container design stage, in which the product does not yet exist and therefore the modification costs are low. For this reason, this article first presents an experimental study of the deformations of corrugated cardboard containers subjected to the internal pressure exerted by the load. Next, a model based on the flexural behaviour of plates with parameters that are identified by fitting the model to the experimental data is proposed. From the fitting analysis it is concluded that the model allows to approximate the deformations of the corrugated cardboard containers in a simple way and with enough accuracy for practical engineering applications.
