RESUMEN
El término territorio inteligente engloba un nuevo concepto de desarrollo socioeconómico fundamentado en cuatro pilares básicos como son competitividad, cohesión social, sostenibilidad y eco-eficiencia. Éste se construye, a su vez, mediante la interrelación de tres ámbitos de desarrollo
hasta ahora tratados de manera aislada e independiente: la economía creativa, el entorno inteligente y el entorno social sostenible, englobando
un nuevo concepto espacial, el conocido como ciudad-región o ciudadterritorio, que supera los límites geográficos y administrativos tradicionales,
equiparándose al concepto de territorio funcional. Su habilidad para construir por sí mismo sus propias ventajas competitivas y sostenibles representa una ventaja construida, siendo ésta uno de los rasgos distintivos que caracterizan a un territorio inteligente.
Paralelamente, se presenta la actuación JakinBask, un proyecto de investigación estratégica que analiza con detalle todos estos factores y elementos.

ABSTRACT
The expression intelligent territory includes a new concept of socioeconomic development based on four fundamental aspects like competitiveness,
social cohesion, sustainability and ecoefficiency. This intelligent territory is built by means of the interrelationship of three areas of development
till now treated in an isolated and independent way: the creative economy, the intelligent environment and the social sustainable dimension.
Furthermore, it includes a new spatial concept, the called city-region, which improves the traditional geographical and administrative limits of
regions, being compared to the concept of functional territory. The creation of its own competitive and sustainable advantages, under the
constructed advantage strategy, represents a clear value for the intelligent territory. Similarly, this article presents a Basque strategic project of research called JakinBask that tackles deeply all the above issues.
