For each tug vessel, according to its installed capacity and the type of service that is provided by the tug, its train towing and its associated deck machinery must be dimensioned. In this process there will be different regulations, which will condition the final result.
When the owner designates a classification society, directs technicians involved in the project into compliance with the corresponding classification rules. Although all classification societies sharing a common goal, as is shoed in this paper, this is not so. Therefore, It would be recommendable to establish a common approach to harmonize the various regulations.
This paper tried to establish calculation procedures for obtaining design parameters towing winch (based on a harmonized proposal). The proposal don't pretends to condense harmonization based on permit compliance with all regulations at a time, the aim is to be capable to approach, to the most successful procedure.
