ABSTRACTThis article analyzes how the discipline of design has been studied in relation to different theories from the field of business management; delving into four frames of reference: dynamic capabilities, resource-based vision, intellectual capital and strategy formulation. The work reviews the available literature in relation to these frameworks, and identifies how different possibilities of manifestation of design in an organizational context emerge from them. On the other hand, the importance of integrating design into the organizational structure of the company is highlighted and the main barriers that the discipline faces to achieve it are identified. Finally, this work affects the integration of design in the field of business management from a three-level logic: operational, tactical and strategic.Keywords: design, business management, integration, organizational structure, barriers, dynamic capabilities, resource-based view, intellectual capital, competitive advantage, operational, tactical, strategic.
