ABSTRACT: Most of mexican industry companies of software are forced to close before two years or reducing their production and losing their workers by decreasing their contribution to the gross domestic product, due to bad management. Knowledge management models are presented as success mesaurenment , being a process to acquire, organize and communicateknowledge. In this sense, industry conditions are gathered as reference for the construction of a knowledge management model for software industry of Mexico. Organizational deficiencies and key points were identified through literature analysis and criticism and factors related to knowledge management were collected, based on the application of the organizational intelligence measurement index matrix (IMIO), identifying relevant characteristics of each each one by importance degree. Finally, the proposed model is focused on reducing the learning curve of employees and presenting an implementation of methodological processes for an adequate control of the knowledge generated by the company. The model was implemented in an PYME of the state of Tlaxcala in Mexico to evaluate its viability measuring improvements achieved in a period of 4 months.Keywords: SME; Software industry; Knowledge management model; OIMI Matrix (Organizational Intelligence Memory Index)
