ABSTRACT: This work is focused on analyzing the incidence of two different university ecosystems, located in the same geographical environment, on the entrepreneurial intention of its students. We used a modified version of the Ajzen Planned Behavior Theory. The purpose is to offer practical implications for the improvement of entrepreneurship programs that contribute to the promotion of entrepreneurial and self-employment capacity in university students. Two samples were selected to contrast the proposed hypotheses, with a total of 1690 surveys carried out and validated at three universities in Guadalajara, México. The statical method applied for the study is based on a Structural Equation Model (SEM). The model we proposed, behaves differently according to the type of university entrepreneurial ecosystem (public university and private university). In both kind of universities the self-efficacy is low in comparison to the attitude, the emotional competences affect different for the private university and the public university; the reason must be sought in demographic causes. The article presents as a result that there is a gradual increase in the indirect influence of the subjective norm on its entrepreneurial intention, increasing the positive attitude towards entrepreneurship. Keywords: Emotional competences, entrepreneurship, higher education, Mexico.
