ABSTRACT: The introduction of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) allows a company to optimize its maintenance practices and improve the efficiency of its operations. For this reason, the number of companies that have introduced a TPM has grown considerably; most of them , however, are large companies. Thus, applying a TPM to a micro-company (up to 10 workers) faces the challenge of adapting the TPM philosophy to the size of the company. This papers sets out the process of selection and introduction of TPM as a system for improving the competitiveness of a micro-company, and describes no only the introduction of autonomous maintenance but also corrective and preventive maintenance. The introduction process described in this article may serve as a reference for other small business in their research for continued improvements which guarantee them a position ahead of their competitors.
