In the last decades, particularly since the 1990s, it became fashionable to argue that the industrial sector was no longer as important as before because we had entered in to the era of post-industrial society.However, the industrial sector has always been the hard core of the economic system. Many of the technological and organizational inventions have been transferred to other sectors, such as services, to increase productivity.
